Hand craft and automation

At Bergtex, we hold on to the hand craft tradition of making bed mattresses and beds in each production step where we believe the quality of the end product would suffer from automation. A bed mattress is a product that will be used for several years by its owner and should be comfortable and durable. A bed mattress manufactured by high quality natural materials offers unprecedented comfort and quality.

The way we manufacture horse hair mattresses exemplifies this philosophy. Instead of using pre fabricated horse hair plates, we insist on using spun horse hair that we prepare on site and then manually distribute on each mattress. By working this way, we can create horse hair mattresses with far better quality, function and comfort than those manufactured using horse hair plates.

Our flexible way of working also makes it possible for us to manufacture bed mattresses in unique shapes according to the wishes of our customers. Looking for a circular bed mattress? Or a triangular?

To function as a full service provider to our customers, we are also required to be able to manufacture standard shaped bed mattresses in large numbers in a cost effective way. For less complicated designs, bed mattresses can be manufactured along an integrated production line, from the first production step to shipment.

However, where automation can not be introduced without risking the quality of the end product, e.g. in sewing, filling and final quality control, we continue to use our hand craft skills.
